itsutsu no kata
just reviewed Ashley Issacs discussion of itsutsu no kata and co-incidentally (from a separate source) learned that contrary to the popular myth that this kata was "Kano's unfinished work" -- it is actually the Kudan level waza of Tenshinshinyo Ryu jujitsu -- it is a form that demonstrates five principles which in my mind places it in the five element style -- like musashi's five rings -- or the more esoteric arts go-dai -- each technique embodying an element of earth, fire, wind, water and void all being applied to kuzushi-- how cool is that!
