Canvas
I am finally getting around to recovering my mats with canvas. My mat size is 12x18. I called a sail shop and they quoted me 500 bucks. Any good ideas to put underneath the canvas? Our current one wore out along the seams of where the mats comes together.
Then I found these, right size....do any of these look good?

Super Heavy Duty!
http://www.mytarp.com/canvas-tarp-15-oz-12x18.aspxWith regard to things under the mat to address the seams, we used to use duct tape. Lots and lots of duct tape. Pull the mats together, tape an "X" every couple of feet to hold the mats together. You might also look toward putting something over the tops of the mats, between them and the canvas. Not sure if carpet pad would work, as it might be too squishy. Not sure if vinyl flooring would work, but you might be able to get a piece in the right dimensions.
Right now I am thinking about swinging by home depot and seeing how much a cheap 12x18 carpet would cost. That should help even out the between mat ridges.
i like the natural 10 oz one myself -- but just for aesthtics-- carpet underlayer might just work -- never tried it
