Video Exchange - Umbrella Waza
I decided to wait until after April Fool's Day to post this. I'm sure most of us have heard the old saying, "April showers bring May flowers." Well, since it's April Eric and I thought we could look at umbrellas as a discussion topic.

I'd like to see what folks come up with -- umbrella open & closed. We know from the closed position the umbrella can be utilized like a small jo (hanbo) or an escrima stick for thrusting. I suspect when the umbrella is open, your waza will have to accommodate the extra drag of the fabric.

As a safety note, the metal tips on the ends of the umbrella wires will likely be dangerous for uke's eyes. It may be very worthwhile to invest a couple of dollars into quality eye protection.

So, let the fun & games begin!

I am digging through My disks now... A few years ago when Cleghorn Sensei kept telling me that the jo work could be done with an umbrella I found a nice big old one at goodwill... (that I have to replace now after doing a few things wrong...)

I have the camera working with the computer again, now just have to learn the new video editing software better...

Ikei,
