Very interesting, thanks. Being not a "big" guy, but pretty tall (and, well, 240 is still kinda big compared to some folks =) I don't always know how to help out players with smaller builds.

In the videos form the Gracie Combatives the triangle is taught for bigger opponents vs smaller under the heading of the "Giant killer"...We have the videos at the dojo and it presents a similar concept with uke actually pushing into tori from the guard and tori creating space and holding uke at bay.Renzo's variation is nice too and it is still difficult to do in a live combative situation.
Working the open guard to create sweeps to take the back or mount is more reasonable for a smaller player vs a larger unless you have crazy flexability in your back and want to risk getting your vertebral discs poped out!!!This is a common injury when larger players stack a smaller person....
I am usually one of the smallest guys in class and learning how to survive and avoid getting stacked is of utmost importance for me. I have been studying options from several perspectives dvd's as well as taking private lessons from smaller competitors who have shared their strategies and I'm still on the learning curve of quite a bit of information and training....I am more than willing to share my info on the mat with anyone ........
