cool stuff from shochugeiko 2010
this morning we did a complete review of owaza ju pon and outlined how it relates to koryu dai ni in time, space and function and also examined the architecture of the foot in its balance functions

this afternoon we worked on musubi/kuzushi/releases with the pressure gradient feedback model for dependent equilibrium and some cool applications including maeotoshi/shizumiotoshi and foot strike/ foot stop/foot sweep/foot reap and blind kinesthetic body mapping

a really nice start!

yesterday morning we did the first 6 of Dai Ni and looked at some neat variations on rise and fall with gyakugamate, also a kotegeashi/iriminage idea, a jujigarami/iriminage idea, broken posture kuzushi idea and relating the the reverse tenkan to the old daito sword drawing function

in the afternoon we did lots of kuzushi and musubi focusing on subtle functions of timing to the windows of vulnerability and the threshold of perception-- played with, natural evasion and attack, dancing bears, plates of cookies, hip rotation, helstromism effect, and one finger musubi

this morning did a quick lesson on applying jujigatame at the conclusion of kotegaeshi then we worked on the releases as musubi and kuzushi and into continuous movement then to opportunities for hand change and follow up with control of center line -- similarity to hikitakegeiko and nagekomi work interesting variations working from the ending of one release being contiguous with the beginning of the next and also touched on the effects of weight loading and uke

this afternoon worked on 7-11 of Dai Ni and touched on variations reactive timing and in tenkai kotehineri application (vertical /horizontal) and nice vertical function (down up down) into the mawashi/oshitaoshi conditions

this morning we did a somatics bodywork routine and questioned the grounds of our practice and talked about the practice that transforms fear

this afternoon we completed Dai Ni and worked in the hip switch applications, the flywheel dynamic, advanced ukemi for kokyunage, exploiting tracking error for shomenate, looked at how to develop sukashinage from several comditions and examined the initial evasion on hiki/uki otoshi and how it parallels the first technique of nage no kata and the the first technique of goshijitsu kata --
