I was wondering, before I go reinventing the wheel, if anyone had taken each of the basic strikes and listed which katas we see them in.

If not, is that something you'd like to do here?

as i played around with this a little i found it also interesting to try to identify the "non-kihon"elements inthe katas-- some of which are extensions of "kamae" or postures/positions and which function in many ways like kihons --so for instance the first response in the first kata is the position like honte ne kamae but which traps the hands and locks the center likening it in function to kuritsuke-- we see this functiopn repeated in the 6th, 10th and 12th katas -- so to describe the first kata i'd have to say that we are seeing an evasion coupled with honte ne kame used to trap (also thrust) followed up with honte uchi strike and the put away--

There are a few of those non-kihon elements around. What some of us call the "flicky-thing" seen in the eleventh & twelveth katas.

The lead in for the second kata is a lot like tsune-no-kame, followed by honte-uchi.

This lead in reminds me of the ninth kata where we target uke's solar plexus, just from above instead of below.
