How long does it take to choke someone out.
Well, these guys felt they needed to test out some of the numbers they heard. I don't think this is an activity I'd participate in, but at least we can benefit fomr their... enthusiasm.

By the way, I've done resarch and the medical comunity has pretty solid numbers on the time ranges it take to in hypoxia (lack of oxygen) in the brain from occluding the carotid arteries (blood) or the trachea (air). They say 3-5 seconds for a blood choke and around 30 for an air choke. I guess it's more fun to choke a few guys out instead of browsing a medical journal.

I know a guy who demands his students choke someone unconscious, and be choked unconscious themselves, as part of the promotion requirements for..... yellow belt 😨

The numbers I've seen on blood chokes is 3-5 seconds. Nobody talks about nerve chokes, which are pretty much instantaneous.

i have it on good authority that when the vagus nerve (easiest on the left side of the neck in most people) is stimulated proprerly, less than one second to profound unconsciousness
