Sweeping actions
One of my favorite things to look at lately is footsweeps, and what happens when tori doesn't keep his foot on the floor.

For example, if tori attempts kouchi-gari and raises uke's foot as he sweeps, he gives uke hiza-guruma.

Also found de-ashi-harai & okuri-ashi-harai tend to lead toward ashi-guruma, though some guys found harai-goshi easier.

All this surprising stuff doesn't happen if tori leaves his sweeping foot in contact with the floor. Like Bob Rea says, "Sweep to the baseboards" -- push uke's foot toward the baseboard while keeping yours on the ground.

Just my $0.02 for now. 😉
