Some of us have been discussing shooting a promotional video for the dojo for a while now. I suppose we should share ideas about what we'd like to do with it and collaborate on it.

I'd like to do an overall budo video. Something that captures all three of our major budo forms in one video. Maybe even throw in some tai chi & iaido too.

Do we want to shoot Aikido & Jodo with hakama or just come as your are? It would certainly help define each style: judo is two guys in white gi, aikido is white gi with hakama, jyodo is blue keiko gi with hakama.

Ideas for soundtrack? This is a tough one. Something like AC-DC's "Thunderstruck" provides a good dose of rock-n-roll, lots of drums, but I don't know that I'd like the finished product. Plus, it's a long song at close to 5½ minutes. My main guitar teacher for the past few years recently purchased a digital recording rig -- play your guitar track, add a drum/bass/etc track from the canned software, mix it together. We had a few ideas while playing tonight, like a shakuhachi flute musical intro to a slideshow showing Windsong Dojo, the kanji & translations for each of the budo forms, then a slight pause followed by some high-energy music.

cool idea -- i think go with the traditional costumes -- also my favorite music would be taiko or kodo drums -- also like the instrumental form of depeche modes "personal jesus" -- also thinking if we get crazty about it maybe we call GW to shoot it

So, having seen some of Chris Wilson's handywork, any ideas as to what we like, don't like, music, and when we're going to shoot video for it?

It's hard to say if I play or not. I'm not a hack, but I have a whole ton of stuff to learn yet. I've dabbled with a tiny bit of music theory. And there are so may styles too. We mainly play classic rock, a little modern stuff and a eensie-beensie tiny bit of country.

I found the perfect music for our vidoe. It's a modern percussion sound with taiko drums and dijerido accents.

Of course it doesn't have the toanl quality of a cardboard tube.

I have a cool taiko drum song about 10 minutes long that might work for video, except for a weird little chanting section in the middle of it. I know you can edit that out though, O' great guru of the video 😉
