Apropos of nothing in particular
"When you have robbed a man of everything, he is no longer in your power. He is free again."
- Aleksander Solzhenitsyn

"People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy."
- Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics

Jung said somewhere that where ever the "will to power" held sway, the quality of love would be lacking.
Where ever love shone forth, the dynamics of fear, dominance, control, and submission would all dissapate.

this causes me to reflect that though we get really tied up in creating "martial arts" as a strategy for meeting our needs for living in the "will to power" world, with lots of maximum efficency and technical skills for self -defense--mediating our issues of fear, dominace, control and submission-- this is really the bujutsu level of accomadating the "will to power" -- it is necessary to train to to meet these defensive needs but over time we find that ultimately what we are doing if what to really meet those needs is going toward Ueshiba's "true budo is love"

"Every human espression is either an expression of love or a cry for help".......

When you frame your day to day experiences this way your understanding of human behavior and your compassion opens up your heart and your eyes...I now have more patience and understanding of not only others but more so of myself....When you master yourself ,your emotions ,your outlook, you become the change you want to see in the world......
live with the attitude of gratitude.....true happiness is a choice we make every day , every moment of our lives....value every moment and share your love and your life becomes filled with the wealth and richness of the heart....

I have travelled on mission trips to Africa, South America and Asia and have had the pleasure of meeting and helping the most happiest ,spiritual and giving people who also happen to be some of the poorest of the world. When you get touched by these experiences you can never be the same....

Windsong is a fountain of spiritual nourishment through the arts...for this I am grateful to have this association with such wonderful people who are on the path of the peaceful warrior....

I have 3 that have been very relevant to me and I think of often.

"Never Give In"
"This is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."
—HarrowSchool, 29 October 1941. It is commonly believed that Churchillstood up, gave the three-word speech, "Never give in!," and sat down. This is incorrect, as is the suggestion, variously reported, that the speech occurred at Oxfordor Cambridge. It was on his first visit to his old school, Harrow, where he would continue to return for the annual "Songs," making his last appearance in 1961.

There is no try, either do it or don't start.
-My dad's version of Yoda to Luke Skywalker. Yoda's version "There is no try--you either do or do not."

The Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself:
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

--The Optimist Creed has been in my house since I was a kid, for as long as I can remember. Since I have been able to read well enough to read it, I have done my best to read it at least once a week, especially if I have had a tough day.
