warm-up excercises
What exactly are the warm-up exercises for jo?
I might be leaving one out.
1. Hands on end of jo, jo behind neck, work neck up/down, look left/right, ear to side
2. Jo on shoulders behind neck, trunk twist
3. Lift jo overhead, squat
4. Lift jo overhead, cross legs in front, touch toes
5. Tuck jo in armpit, turn to opposite side
6. Forward lung, 2 steps (small step, small step again with press)
7. Rowing (step forward, rowing down the leg and back up in a circle)
8. Holding jo in from the ends, make a circle in front, then stretch downward to the side
9. Same grip, making a large circle in front, jo goes nearly to floor, then at peak overhead it spins
10. Presses (jo held at waist, bend elbows so jo comes to shoulders, lift overhead)
11. Jumping jacks

1. an excuse for judoka and/or men to groan and complain about their ailments.
2. a method to torture neophyte jodoka
3. an opportunity to discuss moives, burn notice and/or dirty jokes
4.5 (?): hold jo at both ends, horizontal behind your waist, feet shoulder width apart, lean forward with flat back to stretch hamstrings and shoulders
Hey guys, how about putting together a video of these jodo taiso. I have been neglecting them 😳 and need to brush the rust off and I seem to have misplaced my miyake videos.
