Congratulations to David Wire
This evening I was notified that David Wire of Oklahoma City was promoted to Hachi-dan in Judo by another organization-- Congratualtions Dave! What a well-deserved achievment for 50 plus years of Judo! Bravo! You are an inspiration to me and to many here at the dojo.
If you have not had the pleasure to meet Sensei Wire, let me assure you, David is a judo man of deep knowldge and background-- in my opinion, his technical knowldge of judo is unrivaled in this state-- He has always been an treasured Guest at Windsong Dojo and his place of honor and seniority on our nafudakake (name board) reflects the depth of that relationship with our dojo and its history.
As an aside, I must note that recently there has been some misunderstanding between David and another of my high rank judo/aikido instructors. Feelings have been hurt on both sides and certain third partires have unfortuanately chosen to make this private conflict into a public spectacle by advertising the conflict widely. Under such conditions, I doubt that a clean resolution will be possibe.
For all those interested in such things --Let me be clear-- My position on thier conflict is that these men are both high ranked mature grown ups with strong points of view and they can certainly sort their differences out for themselves. I value and respect them both. My door remains open to them both -- If they would like my help in resolving their conflict I am happy to oblige. I know that my instructor will be staying put in the dojo. Of course, should David wish to no longer frequent Windsong, I shall not take it personally. I wish him only the best, however things shake out.
