On my blog I have been writing about Aiki Tanto lately. I mistakenly assumed there was no offensive knife in the Tomiki system. Evidentally there are a few techniques buried deep in the cumbersome Koryu katas.

Upon researching this I found absolutely nothing on You Tube, or even the internet besides the technique names. How the heck am I supposed to learn Aikido if it is not on You Tube??? 😢

So I hear you guys have been ramping up to do some video work. My request for a quick shoot is these techniques I have not seen from the Roku kata.

Tanto-dori (Fifth Section - Standing Techniques, Knife against hand)

1. Irimi-nage
2. Tentai-gyaku-gamae-ate
3. Kote-mawashi
4. Ryote-mochi-irimi-nage

This is the only roku kata I've found so far. It's from a bloke in England named Shaun Hoddy (http://www.tomiki-aikido.org/). The knife section you mentioned starts at 1:33.



He's got a few of the other koryu kata on there, too, which aren't bad for reference. I'm with you, though, I can't wait for Nick et al to crank out some films!

Yeah! i knew You tube would not let us down. Actually I had watched that night at 3 in the morning. My eyes were too tired to see the tanto. 😨

You could buy the instructional tape/DVD from GW Enterprises... features Lowell Wilkinson and Craig "Hollywood" Boyette IIRC
