What's it matter how many gi's you have?
So my good budy "tweak" asks me Saturday, "how many gi's to you have?" This question was prompted when he walked in the dressing room after judo and I was putting on my keikogi and hakama. Well obviously jodo atire is not going to fly in judo class. Anyway, I'm sure I'm not the only guy with a closet full of gi's.

Sorry. I usually only get another gi when the first one is destroyed.

I know a couple of them were given to me by Nick. Dunno why. I guess I was at the right place at the right time. The two I wear now are double weave so the ones on the shelf are all my old single weaves. Then I have my keikogi for jyodo and my hakama for looking all sexy.

How many? Well... lemme see.

  • There's my Gold Label Toraki that I retired because it's smooth worn out. An old Judo man told me I should keep at least one of those things that was totally worn out so that when I get old I can look back on the old days with fondness.[/*:m:20808hxp]
  • My normal HSU double-weave white Judo gi[/*:m:20808hxp]
  • HSU single-weave blue Judo gi[/*:m:20808hxp]
  • A double-weave white Golden Tiger Judo gi, worn enough to break it in. My old tournament gi, so the collar is still intact & beefy.[/*:m:20808hxp]
  • A single-weave Kataro Judo gi.[/*:m:20808hxp]
  • And I suspect there might be another HSU double-weave Judo jacket in the closet that's mostly worn out but still serviceable. [/*:m:20808hxp]

Add to that a hakama, and probably a keiko jacket in coming months.

I'm kind of with Chris on this one. Not that I don't wish I had more, but they're kind of pricey. Right now I have one active duty HSU single weave, and one of the same that's still usable but has a few holes in it. Plus one navy keiko gi and two hakama (an old Century one that's still usable, but I don't like it compared to my new e-bogu one).
