An idea to foster dialogue
I need a daily dose of the Kaze Uta Budo Kai vibe. This forum has been painfully slow lately.

So I have an idea. We should all write a book.

I have a tarot book that is amazing. Lots of articles and random thoughts about each of the cards. It is a wonder ful book to pick up and flip through for inspiration. We could do something similar for the 17.

Imagine... articles, pictures, art, thoughts, poems, tips, technical pointers, Japanese translations, interviews from teachers, calligraphy, questions, dialogue, and conversations between artists in an organic exploration around the ideas that are core to our collective walk. At the very least it could get us talking. I think it would be far more interesting than other tomiki books because it would have so many opinions and perspectives. We all come from a similar root, but are all going to different conclusions.

Just an idea.

sounds cool to me --so the question i asked myself when i wrote the aikido book was what sort of book i would have wantd to find when i started? so now i'll ask -- so what kind of book do we want to find now that we've been foolin with this stuff for a few decades?

The kind of book that I'd personally like to have would be one with countless (literally hundreds or thousands) of games, drills, examples, weird ki tricks, micro-lessons, etc... None of it considered THE way of doing it, but all possible ways of thinking about it differently or practicing it differently. I sorta tried to do this in two of my blogposts:

and

such a compilation of hundreds of tips and tricks from different instructors would be super-helpful for:
* lesson planning when you are fresh out of cool ninja techniques of the day
* finding something fresh and different to break up a stale period in your training
* a sort of a survey of the state of the art - what general shape the art is taking right now.
